Was there anything that stood out about
Miriam’s approach in your one-to-one sessions?

The anecdotes Miriam told me about her own life made me feel more comfortable. It also made it a more personal process. Maybe unconsciously, this was one of the most crucial elements for me. It was not necessarily the content of the anecdotes, but the ‘equality’ they brought about.

It struck me that the answers needed to come from me. I believe this is key, because it forces you to think and highlights what you find difficult and where the sticking points are. It means that you are in control of the decisions being made, and not someone else.

She doesn’t judge you – that’s very reassuring when you’re expecting a certain reaction.

What added value does the
coaching process provide for you?

I have gained insight into my strengths, and this has given me a much clearer picture of what I am good at and what I enjoy. As a result, I can be more specific when searching for a role that suits me. We also worked through some ‘old woes’, which means there is nothing standing in my way now.

I am definitely calmer. I understand that my thoughts are my own and that I can do what I want with them; heed them, consider them, acknowledge them but take no action, or let them go altogether. I can now play around with my thoughts, and I feel freer in my own head. I see more possibilities in my life, and I have confidence in the future.

Which qualities stood out
for you about the trainer?

The sense of calm which radiated from Miriam, and the way the questions were posed made you dig deeper and formulate your answers more consciously (or maybe unconsciously).

Expert, spontaneous, the narrative was constructed well, including the timing…

Listening ability, creating the right atmosphere, transferred knowledge well.

What do you remember most
about the workshop?

The fact that I shared things with colleagues that probably would not have been discussed otherwise.

The fact that feeling happy is something you can have an impact on. Being more conscious of the subject of ‘happiness’. I now consciously choose an activity each day that positively affects my own happiness and/or that of the people are around me.

Very valuable because the focus was on positivity during difficult times.
